About the Site Author
Hello! If you've managed to stumble upon this site, you have way too much time on your hands. This website, as bare-bones and poorly developed as it may be, was created as part of a research project for a HIST 3613 at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. If you're still reading, it means you must want to know who I am. My name is Nathaniel Marshell. I joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 2014 at the ripe old age of 17. I served as an 11C Indirect Fire Infantryman for 6 years until my discharge in 2020. I was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan as part of Operation Freedom's Sentinel in 2017-2018, where I served as a close protection team leader. I was responsible for the transportation and safety of a variety of multinational advisors, both civilian and military alike. Returning home from my combat tour, I pondered taking advantage of my post-9/11 GI bill in order to pursue higher education. Having decided that academic life was the right path for me, I enrolled for my first semester of college. Currently, I am working towards my BA in history, and looking forward to working on a MA and perhaps even a PhD in the (somewhat) near future.
